LURKING LIGHT

community

Start here

You just got here. This is the order. There is no account on this site, and there is no form to fill in.

What this place is

The studio makes the stories and games. The guild is the people who play them. That split is the whole of What Lurking Light is. Lurker is the mascot. The mark in the corner is the logo. They stay separate.

1. Join Discord

Discord is the front door. Beacon is the host bot: welcome, FAQ, moderation, and raid announcements. The site does not embed it. Public room names are on Discord & Beacon.

2. Read the newcomer channels

After the invite, open these:

  • #welcome
  • #rules
  • #roles

#announcements is where a public drop or a locked stream is posted. Also useful, when you want them: #introductions, #lfg, and #media.

3. Come to Friday Hang

Fridays at 8:00 PM Eastern (America/New_York). The event is voice hang. Notices go in #general or #announcements. There is no #friday-hang text channel. Ten minutes counts. It is not a stream.

Add to calendar. The file is a one-hour block (8:00 to 9:00 PM) because no end time was locked. The night itself can run longer. The writeup is Friday Hang. Home and the guild page count down to that clock.

4. Pick a hub

The hubs are shells. You can open them. Rosters and event lists are empty on purpose. Officers are TBD on all three. Pick the one you play. The index is Games.

  • WoW Forever (wiki). Talk is #friday-forever. GL is Jeffry. Horde | PVP. The server name is TBD. The in-game guild name is TBD.
  • WoW Retail (wiki). Talk is #wow-retail. GL is Jeffry. Lightbringer | Alliance. The guild is not created yet, so the in-game name is TBD.
  • Tabletop (wiki). Talk is #tabletop. The campaign channel is #dnd-aboliths-ascent. Table voice is tabletop. Host, ruleset, and schedule are TBD.

5. Watch a stream, if you want

This step is optional. It is not how you join. Twitch is LurkingLightTV (lurkinglighttv). The Stream page is that door. While one is on: #stream-alerts, #stream-chat, and voice stream. Steps are on Join stream chat.

YouTube / Live, VOD, and Shorts destinations are TBD. This page does not link them. Streams are occasional, not daily. A locked stream is posted in #announcements. Friday Hang is not a stream slot.

Glow, if you notice the pill

The number in the nav is glow, saved in this browser. It is not membership and not an account. The ladder is on Glow & ranks. The rank named Beacon is not the Discord bot.

Your glow

The number on the pill is your total glow. The bar fills from this rank to the next: Lurker 0, Drifter 40, Glimmer 100, Beacon 200, Lightbearer 350. Same ladder as Glow & ranks. Saved in this browser only. The Beacon rank is not the Discord bot. There is no account.
